Exceptional Experience

Dr. Schooler's dedication to patient care and passion for professional excellence started early in her life.  Following graduation as the Class of 1978's Valedictorian from Whiting High School, in her northwest Indiana home city of Whiting, Dr. Schooler obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1983 and became a practicing licensed pharmacist in Indiana.  During her four years of medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Schooler worked as a hospital pharmacist part-time, to help pay tuition and to maintain her pharmacy clinical skills, until graduation with the Doctor of Medicine degree in 1987.  Dr. Schooler then completed neurological surgery residency training at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, before establishing the neurosurgery program at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana in 1993.  Dr. Schooler retired from direct patient care solo neurosurgery practice in 2014, remaining active in many areas of medical research and peer review consulting over the past decade.
